This sequence deals with one of the main objectives in language teaching: the ability to engage in meaningful conversation. In order to “achieve” that goal, students will be performing a radio show or interview based on an unsolved mystery they’ll be researching.
Conversation is carried out in cooperation with others. That is, it requires at least two people who are willing to talk to each other, and who will therefore make some decisions cooperatively: they’ll establish the topic of the conversation, how and when to talk, whether to change topics, when and how to finish conversation, etc. This is why students will be planning and performing this radio interview cooperatively. This project will require them not only to talk to each other continuously, but also to achieve the final task cooperating with each other.
